A founding pillar of Musica Popular Brasileira (MPB), world-renowned guitarist and composer, Toninho Horta, has recorded approximately 40 albums and 1,300 tracks, earning three Grammy nominations and winning the 2020 Latin Grammy for his double album Belo Horizonte. In 1972, Horta contributed to Milton Nascimento and Lô Borges’ Clube de Esquina, which is among Rolling Stone’s top ten greatest Brazilian albums of all time.
Toninho Horta is celebrated as one of the world’s most influential musicians, creating inspiring compositions with sophisticated guitar techniques. Named among the top jazz guitarists by Melody Maker Magazine and featured in Sony/BMG’s 100 Years of Jazz Guitar Progressions alongside legends like Wes Montgomery and Eric Clapton, his work has been recorded by artists worldwide, from Sérgio Mendes to Earth, Wind and Fire. Recently, Mr. Horta participated in Milton Nascimento’s farewell concert at Mineirão Stadium before 53,000 people and is currently working on his new album Standards & Stories.
